Informed sources confirmed on Wednesday that Turkish forces are preparing for a new incursion into the Kurdistan Region after the Kurdistan Workers' Party kidnapped a Turkish figure. The sources said that the Turkish forces' preparations come amid silence from the Kurdistan Region and Iraq governments.
Speaking about this file, former MP Ayoub al-Rubaie identified what he called the danger list in the Turkish incursion into large areas of the Kurdistan Region.
He added that "the incursion, the establishment of large bases and posts, and the almost daily shelling are accompanied by the displacement of families from dozens of villages," noting that "the danger list is not reflected in a specific geography, but rather represents an aggression on the sovereignty of the country, regardless of the arguments that Turkey puts forward to justify what it is doing."
He pointed out that "what is happening in the Kurdistan Region requires a unified Iraqi position to stop the Turkish incursion and create security coordination on the strip that guarantees its security and prevents any threats."
It is noteworthy that there are Iraqi-Turkish negotiations mediated by Qasim al-Araji to investigate whether there is a kidnapped figure from the Turkish army at the hands of the Kurdistan Workers' Party.
